同时做如下改进：看英文时，脑子反应中文怎么说。

【高中的时候老师就说什么，学英文时脑袋里不要想中文要用英文思考，好吧，见仁见智。现在是训练翻译的时间。不解释其他没用的了。】

1、学习时间段12:50至13:15 看了一遍，还有好多不太懂的地方。

13:15至14:52，啃完。

继续努力。

1、The first months of any life can be an anxious time.

新生命的头几个月总是叫人提心吊胆。

【新生命，用life就简单而准确的表达了。英文的表达和中文的翻译都很到位。

我经常用can表示能。不会这种用法。为了吃透can 这个单词，查了朗文词典。发现这种用法在第9条。】

9（sometimes，应该是约等于sometimes的意思） used to say what sometimes happens or how someone sometimes behaves:

It can be quite cold here at night.

Peter can be really annoying.

10(giving orders,这种用法也不知道，顺便摘录出来) [spoken] used to tell someone in an angry way to do something:

And you can stop that quarrelling, the pair of you.

If you won't keep quiet, you can get out.

【综合查到的结果，中文的翻译用力过猛了。can不应该翻译为”总是“，而应该翻译成”有时候“。所以即便是《金融时报》的翻译也会有小错误。人总是需要学习（PS:这句翻译成英语应该是：Man always needs to study. 而不应该是Man can need to study.）。

通过朗文词典的句子，我也学到，”你再这样，就给我滚粗“的英文怎么说了：

2、monitor /ˈmɒnɪtə/  CET4 TEM4 (monitoring,monitored,monitors)

1.V-T If you monitor something, you regularly check its development or progress, and sometimes comment on it. 监控

例：Officials had not been allowed to monitor the voting.

官员们未曾获许监控选举。

2.V-T If someone monitors radio broadcasts from other countries, they record them or listen carefully to them in order to obtain information. 监听

例：Peter Murray is in Washington and has been monitoring reports out of Monrovia.

彼得·默里在华盛顿，一直监听来自蒙罗维亚的报道。

【我们是来学习的，不是来挑刺的。不过，资料中的汉语翻译成译成”密切关注“欠妥。

监控在某种程度上就等于密切关注。但是监控好像是当局的行为。个人对某件事情，翻译成”密切关注“更地道。不过英文的意思应该是”当局在监控“。而汉语翻译明显把它软化成了”人们在密切关注“。也是功力颇深！】

3、fretful /ˈfrɛtfʊl/ TEM8

1.ADJ If someone is fretful, they behave in a way that shows that they are worried or unhappy about something. 烦躁不安的

例：Don't assume your baby automatically needs feeding if she's fretful.

不要你的婴儿一焦躁就假定她必然需要喂食。

【看词典的例句，婴儿的烦躁不安用fretful，O(∩_∩)O

automatically 竟然有必然的意思。我一直当它是“自动”。】

【资料中例句，fretful应该约等于anxious】

4、Besides the first few days heading north, as foreigners snapped up A shares, none of these ceilings have been hit.

【又看到as 这个单词了，真让人头大。

朗文词典的解释：

while or when:

I saw Peter as I was getting off the bus.

As time passed, things seemed to get worse.

Just as the two men were leaving, a message arrived.

此处应该是when的意思。】

5、snap up (snapping,snapped,snaps)

1.PHRASAL VERB If you snap something up, you buy it quickly because it is cheap or is just what you want. 争购

例：...a millionaire ready to snap them up at the premium price of $200 a gallon.

…一个百万富翁准备以每加仑$200的高价抢购它们。

【抢购股票 snap up stocks】

6、simplistic /sɪmˈplɪstɪk/  CET6

1.ADJ A simplistic view or interpretation of something makes it seem much simpler than it really is. 过分简单化的

例：He has a simplistic view of the treatment of eczema.

他对湿疹治疗所持观点过于简单化。

【simplistic是把相对复杂的事情搞simple了。

You think CATTI is esay? That is simplistic.】

7、marginal /ˈmɑːdʒɪnəl/  CET4 TEM8

1. ADJ If you describe something as marginal, you mean that it is small or not very important. 微小的

例：This is a marginal improvement on October.

这是对10月份的一个小小的改进。

2. ADJ If you describe people as marginal, you mean that they are not involved in the main events or developments in society because they are poor or have no power. 无足轻重的

例：The tribunals were established for the well-integrated members of society and not for marginal individuals.

这个特别法庭是为社会中的主流人群设立的，而不是为了无足轻重的小人物。

【经济学中的著名词语，margin边际。竟然还有这个意思！

”这是小意思。“应该可以译成”This is marginal“吧。】

8、Tiny

【这句话太任性了吧。一个单词当一句话了。第二次英汉对照起来看，才看明白。】

9、ratify /ˈrætɪˌfaɪ/  CET6+ (ratifying,ratified,ratifies)

1.V-T When national leaders or organizations ratify a treaty or written agreement, they make it official by giving their formal approval to it, usually by signing it or voting for it. 批准 (条约或书面协议)

例：The parliaments of Australia and Indonesia have yet to ratify the treaty.

澳大利亚和印度尼西亚议会还未批准该条约。

【“批准条约”的地道用法。还是那句话，英文讨厌重复。approve、ratify换个说法。】

10、impediment /ɪmˈpɛdɪmənt/  TEM8

1.N-COUNT Something that is an impediment to a person or thing makes their movement, development, or progress difficult. 妨碍; 障碍物

例：

He was satisfied that there was no legal impediment to the marriage.

他对于这场婚姻没有法律上的障碍感到很满意。

2.N-COUNT Someone who has a speech impediment has a disability that makes speaking difficult. (言语) 障碍

例：

John's slight speech impediment made it difficult for his mother to understand him.

约翰轻微的口吃使他母亲难以听懂他。

【交流障碍，应该是”communication impediment“吧？

以前只会说，obstacle】

11、Timing 

N-UNCOUNT Timing is used to refer to the time at which something happens or is planned to happen, or to the length of time that something takes. 时间安排

例：

They had concerns about the timing of the report.

他们对这个报道的时间安排有担忧。

【（现金和股票交割上的）结算时间，settlement timing】

12、teething /ˈtiːðɪŋ/

1.V-I When babies are teething, their teeth are starting to appear through their gums, often causing them pain. (婴儿)出牙; 长乳牙

例：Babies often get red cheeks when they're teething.

婴儿出牙时脸蛋常常是红的。

2.N-UNCOUNT Teething is also a noun. 出牙

例：Teething can be painful and make your baby irritable.

出牙可能会很痛苦，会使婴儿烦躁易怒。

【词典的解释都没什么意思。

不过资料中的句子，妙极。

学到了英语中比喻的用法了。下次你用teething problems来表示发展初期的困难，一定是好句子。】

13、relative /ˈrɛlətɪv/  CET4 TEM4

PHRASE Relative to something means with reference to it or in comparison with it. 与…相比

例：Japanese interest rates rose relative to America's.

日本的利率与美国相比有所上升。

【以前只会用comparing to 】

14、past

【以为look past 是一个词组，结果不是。

查不到。

不过看到一句话：look past the superficial facades（透过现象看本质）. look past 应该由看透之意。】

【就是指小孩嘛……不是crystal哦！】

【下次不说 three times了。

PS：倍数的说法。

PREDET If one thing is treble the size or amount of another thing, it is three times greater in size or amount. 3倍的

例：The mine reportedly had an accident rate treble the national average.

据报道，那个矿的事故发生率是全国平均水平的三倍。
