巧记品质类英语单词（二）

1、outatanding a.突出的；优秀的

[记]出（out）类拔（stand）萃。

[注]指人very good的时候，一定要用outstanding。

2、standard n.标准 a.标准的；合格的

[记]stan-站；-dard音似 大的 。我们建设的标准就是要站立起来很大，这就是我们的标准（standard）。

[例]A standard teacher knows how to teach students while an outstanding teacher knows howto inspire students.合格的老师教育人，优秀的老师激励人。

3、partial a.部分的；偏心的

[记]只对一部分（part）人表示爱哦（i-al），很偏心。

[反]impartial a.公正的（im-否定前缀）

[例]Teachers are always partial to students with outstanding academic performance．老师总是对成绩好的学生比较偏心。

4、unique a.独一无二的

[记]只有一个(uni-)客人(que),是独一无二的。

[另]有你(uni-)就可(-que)以了，因为你是独一无二的。

[注]-ue结尾一般都不发音。

[真]Only in the past 20 years have specialists in language study realized that signed languagesare unique—a speech of the hand.在过去的20年间语言学家才意识到手语的独特性。

5、vain a.徒劳的；虚荣的

[记]va-空；in-里面。竹篮打水一场空，努力徒劳的。

[串]虚荣的人做事都会徒劳无功。

[搭]in vain没有结果；徒劳

[注]in是介词，介词后面都加名词。而这里vain为什么是形容词呢？in vain是一个习语，故不讲求语法。

[例]If you make continuous efforts,the result will not be in vain.只要努力过，就会很好过。
